Mouloud Ikhedji started playing in 1978 at MBB club, then played for Rija for two years before a wrist injury ended his playing career in 1988. When he finished his college degree, he coached professionally in the club level, with teams El Kseur and MBB from 1996 to 1999. He joined the national team as an assistant coach of the men’s team that played in the 1998 World Championship, Arab and African Championships, Pan-Arab Games and the Mediterranean Games among others. In March 2006, he took the reins of the women’s national team, which he steered to a gold medal finish in the African Games in 2007 and a silver place finish in the African Championship in 2009. Among his best coaching achievements is Algeria’s qualification to the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games and the 2010 World Championship. After which, he resigned from the national team and returned to coaching club volleyball at MBB in 2011. Four years later, he was appointed as coach of the men’s national team after being an assistant a year earlier.
