Captain Carlos Guerra, Mexico
“We faced the match one point at a time, with control and serenity. Our best performance was in the second set and even if we are not at our highest game level, starting the tournament with a victory gives us mental strength to grow as a solid team. Adapting to the altitude here in Mexico City is not easy, so today’s opponent did a good job facing this difficulty. Facing Chile tomorrow will be tough because we are both undefeated and we are ready for the challenge”.

Captain Kerboua Ahmed Amir, Algeria
“Congratulations to Mexico, they were a good opponent. Personally I can say that we did not play at our best level”.

Head Coach Jorge Azair, Mexico
“It is comforting overcoming the pressure of the first match and we can say it is time to think about our next opponent. Honestly speaking, we took advantage of Algeria’s errors; yes we also committed mistakes but they did not prevent us from scoring. We will study Chile and prepare well for tomorrow. Tunisia and Algeria will improve, so nothing is decided yet”.

Head Coach Ikhedji Mouloud, Algeria
“This is not the best way to start tournament, now we will depend on other results. The altitude in Mexico City definitely had a negative effect in our team, we expect better results. Congratulations to Mexico, they took advantage from our mistakes and did a swell job”.
