Eight-time African champions Tunisia have participated in six Olympic Games, with a best finish of ninth at Los Angeles 1984. They have also appeared in the 1972, 1988, 1996, 2004 and 2012 editions of the Olympics. At London 2012 they lost all five matches and won just one set. In 2013, Tunisia finished second at the Mediterranean Games. They have competed at every World Championship since 2002 but have recorded just three victories, all in 2006.
At continental level, they won a medal at each African Championship in which they have competed, apart from in 2009 when they finished fifth. At the 2015 African Volleyball Championship, Tunisia finished with the silver medal after a straight sets defeat by hosts Egypt. They made their World League debut in the 2014 season and in 2015, finished bottom of Group 3’s Pool F with only one win, over Puerto Rico. In 2014 they competed at the World Championship and were ranked joint-21st overall after finishing bottom of a pool that included Brazil and Germany. Their World Cup performances have been consistent in recent outings, having finished 12th in 1995, 1999, 2007 and 2015. They improved slightly to finish 11th in 2003 but have failed to match their joint-best finishes of eighth in 1981 and 1991.
